DDF Nautilus 5711 vs PPF and 3K — Which Nautilus Movement Is Actually Integrated?
The One Number That Sorts Every 5711 On the Market
Two DDF Nautilus QC posts landed on RepTimeQC this week. People are buying it, and most have no idea what’s inside.
So let’s sort the 5711 field properly. There are four factories on this reference now, and they’re not doing the same thing.
Start with thickness. Genuine 5711 is 8.3mm. That number does more work than any other spec here — on this watch, thickness is a direct readout of what movement is inside. The Nautilus case is thin enough that you can’t hide a padded movement in it.
One number. That’s it.

3K is the only one that lands dead on 8.3mm.
Look, nobody can see 0.3mm with the naked eye. PPF against 3K is invisible without calipers. But that 0.3mm isn’t cosmetic — it’s the thickness of a decorative plate. Which is the whole story of this reference.
Integrated vs a 9015 Wearing a Costume
Genuine 5711 runs the Patek 324. Two ways to approximate that in a replica, and they’re not close in engineering terms.

The integrated route. Tool an actual 324 clone. 3K did this with a Dandong-made 324, and BBF ships one too. Gears sit exposed and actually turn. The rotor arm angles slightly upward with three pawls. Because there’s no plate stacked on top, the case closes at genuine thickness.
The plate route. Take a Miyota 9015 — a cheap, reliable, widely available Japanese movement — and screw a decorative bridge over it so it reads as a 324 through the sapphire. PPF does this, and PPF is the lineage that started the whole 5711 replica category. The tell is the rotor arm: horizontal, with two pawls where the genuine has one, and a plate covering the works.
A costume. That’s the honest word for it.

The plate approach costs you more than thickness. The 9015’s rotor axle has no ball bearing, so it’s audibly louder on the wrist — you can literally hear the rotor spin in a quiet room. The 324 clone runs a bearing and is noticeably quieter. A buddy of mine picked up a PPF back in 2023 and DM’d me a week later asking why his watch sounded like a maraca in bed. That’s why.
Credit where it’s due, though: PPF’s bridge finishing is better than 3K’s. Cleaner, more refined plate work. Honestly, it’s a nicer-looking fake 324 than 3K’s real one.
Whether that matters to you depends on whether you’d rather have something pretty or something correct.
Three Field Tests — Identify the Movement Without Opening Anything
This is the part worth bookmarking. You can determine which movement is in a 5711 from the crown alone, before you pay a cent.
Test 1 — Pull the crown and watch the seconds hand. On a 9015 build, the seconds hand stops. On a 324 integrated clone, it keeps running — which matches the genuine 324. So a hacking seconds hand on a 5711 that’s sold as integrated? It isn’t.
Test 2 — Quickset the date and note the direction. The 9015 jumps the date from bottom to top. The 324 integrated advances top to bottom. Different mechanisms, opposite motion, no ambiguity.
Test 3 — Look at the gear next to the shock setting. Through the display back, find the small gear beside the shock absorber. On an integrated movement it turns with the rotor. On a 9015-plus-plate you’ll see a larger gear that’s decorative and doesn’t move with it.

Three tests, thirty seconds, and no seller can talk their way around them.
Ask for a video of the crown pull if you’re buying remotely. If they won’t film it, walk.
DDF’s 330 — The Option That Sounds Newer and Isn’t Better
DDF offers the 5711 with either a 324 or a 330, and the 330 gets marketed as the modern, upgraded choice.
Here’s what you’re actually buying.
Genuine 5711 uses the 324, not the 330. Picking DDF’s 330 for a 5711 means picking a movement the reference never came with. The 330 belongs to the newer generation.
Under the 330 badge, DDF’s version is a 31-base movement with the cross wheel and rotor changed. That’s it. The rotor is remade as a half-skeleton ball type with “330” markings, and the centre section — which mimics the genuine — sits visibly proud of the surface, apparently glued on. Positive side: a 31 base is stable, and the twin-barrel winding feel is light and smooth.
But the giveaway is the same test from the last section — and this time DDF fails it in the opposite direction. DDF’s 330 doesn’t hack, and the genuine 330 does. The 324 version doesn’t hack either, which is correct for a 324. So the 324 option is right by accident of matching. The 330 option is wrong on the one behaviour people actually check.
Awkward.

One more thing on DDF’s balance: the genuine 330 is free-sprung. DDF’s carries a small regulating weight, so it’s a regulated balance. If you want the longer version of why that distinction gets oversold, I went through it in my free-sprung balance breakdown.
My read: if you’re buying DDF, take the 324. The 330 is a newer number on a movement that’s further from the watch you’re copying.
Dials and Finishing — Everybody Wins Something
Movement architecture goes to 3K and BBF. The dial fight is genuinely split, and this is where 3K’s weaknesses show.

White dial colour. Genuine reads like A4 paper in direct light and turns stainless-steel grey backlit. PPF’s dial runs cream/off-white and gets closer to that. 3K’s runs pure snow white — cleaner-looking, less accurate.
Blue dial colour. Genuine 5711 blue isn’t solid blue. It’s a blue-grey-black gradient. DDF’s blue reads deeper and more correct; 3K’s runs bright and shallow.
Date font. This is 3K’s long-standing weak point. Genuine date text is thick and fills the window. PPF’s is thick, full, correct. DDF’s is bold with the right dark tone. 3K’s is thin, pale, and washes out. Worth flagging: 3K’s earlier 5711 date font had no hook on the “1” and was noticeably wrong. DDF’s has the hook and matches.

Movement engraving. DDF and BBF engrave. 3K prints. That’s been a running complaint about 3K for years, and once you’ve seen printed caseback text next to engraved, you can’t unsee it.
Case shape. Genuine 5711 lug ends have a beak — a small protruding point. 3K rounds it off. BBF gets the beak right and chamfers the case so it doesn’t bite your wrist.
Hands and markers. BBF matches hand lume to the marker lume. 3K’s hand fill runs whiter than its markers, so there’s a visible mismatch. DDF’s hour markers are too sharply pointed — genuine has a rounded chamfer there. DDF’s hands are clean with a thick solid centre post and no burring.
Materials are common ground: 310 steel, brushed bezel with polished flanks, across PPF and 3K alike.
So Which 5711
3K if you want the correct watch. Only one hitting 8.3mm, real integrated 324, and the best after-sales support of the group — which matters more than people credit, because a thin integrated movement isn’t a thing you want to be sourcing parts for alone. You accept a snow-white dial, a thin date font, printed caseback text, and no lug beak. I reviewed it on its own terms in my 3K Nautilus 5711 review.

DDF if you’re buying for the face. Best dial tone of the four, best date font, engraved movement. You pay 0.1–0.4mm in thickness depending on which one you get, and DDF’s measurements move around more between batches than the others — 8.4mm on one caliper, 8.7mm on another. A reader emailed me in March comparing two DDF units bought two months apart, and the second one was noticeably chunkier. Take the 324. Skip the 330.
BBF is the one nobody talks about — and probably should. Integrated Dandong 324, deep engraving, correct lug beak, chamfered case, matched lume, thick date font that fills the window. It ships with the correct parts already fitted, so there’s no aftermarket dial-and-hands swap to budget for. Its date creeps rather than snapping, starting around 10 o’clock.
PPF started this category and still has the most refined bridge finishing and the most accurate white dial. But it’s a 9015 under a plate, it’s 0.2mm off, and the rotor is loud. It’s the sentimental pick, not the technical one.
Sentimental doesn’t win QC threads.

Whatever you land on, run the crown test before money moves. Pull it, watch the seconds hand, then quickset the date and note which way it jumps. If a seller advertises an integrated 324 and that seconds hand stops dead, you’re looking at a 9015 in a costume — and you now know that in under a minute.
Find a seller who’ll film it for you and stands behind a real warranty. Everyone else, hard pass.
